Submission and Publication Agreement for Projects at the inVisuals Platform

1. General Information and Scope

1.1 These General Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the inVisuals platform (hereinafter "Platform"), operated by Jan Schwochow & Gorm Labenz based in Germany.

1.2 By registering and using the Platform, the user accepts these Terms. Deviating conditions of the user shall not apply unless we have expressly agreed to them in writing.

1.3 This Platform is intended for users worldwide who create and wish to present data visualizations and infographic projects.

1.4 We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be communicated to users via email and will take effect 14 days after notification, unless the user objects. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

2. Registration and Account Management

2.1 The use of our Platform requires registration. Registration is completed by providing a valid email address, creating a username, and a password.

2.2 The user agrees to provide complete and truthful information during registration and to update this information when necessary.

2.3 Each user may create and maintain only one account. The user is responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential and is liable for all activities carried out under their account.

2.4 The user has no entitlement to registration. We reserve the right to reject registrations or block accounts without giving reasons, especially in case of violations of these Terms.

3. Submission and Selection Process

3.1 Users can submit data visualizations and infographic projects on the Platform. The submission must comply with the technical requirements specified on the Platform.

3.2 All submitted projects undergo a selection process. There is no guarantee of publication. The decision regarding publication lies solely with us.

3.3 We reserve the right to contact users regarding adjustments to their submissions. The user agrees to respond to such requests within a reasonable time.

3.4 After submission of a project, it generally cannot be withdrawn. In exceptional cases, the user may submit a request for withdrawal by email, though there is no guarantee of deletion, especially after publication has occurred.

3.5 Projects that are not selected will be stored in our archive for a period of up to two years and may be deleted thereafter.

4.1 The user remains the owner of all copyrights and other rights to the content they submit.

4.2 By submitting, the user grants us a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, and transferable right to use, reproduce, distribute, edit, translate, and make publicly available the submitted content in digital or analog form (book/magazine/brochure) as well as on social media platforms.

4.3 The user specifically grants us the right to:

  • Publish the submitted content
  • Edit the submitted content, particularly by assigning categories, adjusting texts and formats
  • Present the submitted content on our Platform, in print products, and on social media channels
  • Provide the name of the creator and a link when publishing

4.4 The user guarantees that they own all rights to the submitted content or have obtained the necessary licenses and permissions to grant us the rights mentioned above.

4.5 In particular, the user guarantees that the submitted content is free from third-party rights and that they are authorized to grant us the rights mentioned above.

4.6 The user guarantees that all data sources used are correctly cited and that, where necessary, the required permissions to use the data have been obtained.

4.7 The user may continue to use their projects submitted to inVisuals elsewhere after publication on our Platform, unless expressly agreed otherwise.

5. Content Requirements

5.1 The submitted content must meet the following requirements:

  • It must represent data visualizations or infographics
  • The underlying data must be correct to the best of the user's knowledge and belief
  • The sources of the data must be completely and correctly cited
  • The content must not violate applicable law
  • The content must not infringe on third-party rights
  • The content must not be offensive, defamatory, racist, pornographic, or otherwise objectionable

5.2 The responsibility for the accuracy and precision of the presented data lies exclusively with the user.

5.3 We reserve the right not to publish submitted content that violates these requirements or to remove it after publication.

6. Publication and Compensation

6.1 Selected projects will be published on our Platform in digital form and may additionally be published in analog form (book/magazine/brochure).

6.2 There is no entitlement to financial compensation for publication.

6.3 In case of publication in analog form, the user will receive a complimentary copy.

6.4 When publishing on social media platforms, the creator will be credited by name and, where technically possible, linked to their profile.

6.5 Publication may, under certain circumstances, lead to competitions or awards ("Visual of the Year/Month"), the conditions of which will be announced separately.

7. Liability and Indemnification

7.1 The user is liable for all damages incurred by us or third parties due to the content they submit, particularly for damages resulting from infringements of copyrights or other third-party rights.

7.2 The user indemnifies us against all claims by third parties that are asserted against us due to the content they submit, particularly claims due to infringement of copyrights or other third-party rights.

7.3 We are not liable for the accuracy, completeness, or currentness of content submitted by users.

7.4 Our liability is limited to intent and gross negligence, unless it concerns the injury to life, body, health, or the breach of essential contractual obligations.

7.5 In case of slight negligent breach of essential contractual obligations, our liability is limited to the foreseeable, typically occurring damage.

8. Data Protection

8.1 We collect, process, and use personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is available at

8.2 We use Supabase Auth for authentication, with servers hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.

8.3 Personal data is only collected, processed, and used to the extent necessary for providing the Platform and fulfilling our contractual obligations.

9. Term and Termination

9.1 The use of the Platform can be terminated at any time by deleting the account. Deletion of the account has no effect on already published content.

9.2 We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts for violations of these Terms without prior notice.

9.3 The rights granted in Section 4 remain unaffected by termination or deletion of the account.

10. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

10.1 These Terms are subject to the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

10.2 The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms is, to the extent legally permissible, Berlin.

10.3 For consumers, the statutory places of jurisdiction apply.

11. Language

11.1 The original version of these Terms is in German. In case of discrepancies between the German version and translations, the German version shall prevail.

12. Severability Clause

12.1 Should individual provisions of these Terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected.

12.2 An invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to the economic purpose of the invalid provision.
